As the South Metro Minneapolis, Minnesota, area’s licensed Woman-Centric Matterssm homebuilder, Severson Homes is dedicated to:
- ...presenting home designs that allow for how you truly live - with special importance placed on areas for de-stressing, entertaining, storage and flexible living.
- ...saving you time and adding convenience with everything from revamping the customer’s purchase experience to our convenient model home location.
- ...providing both men and women the best value in every way possible. Men usually think of “value” in terms of lowest price. While price is important, women most often view it in terms of “best overall value”, including aspects such as trust and customer service.
- ...addressing home safety and health concerns women have in their frequent roles as primary caregivers and nurturers. “By 2010, about ½ the women in America over 49 will be caregivers for someone in her family.” - LifeSpring Environs, Inc.
- ...reducing stress both in the purchasing experience and in the home design. “Stress in her life is the #1 compelling theme for women.” - Mary Lou Quinlon in Just Ask A Woman
- ...becoming our customers’ new home investment counselor. We care about you, your concerns, and your future, and we want to help you make wise, informed decisions.

See how our home plans are specially color coded for how you live in your home!
A Woman-centric home plan has been designed for the way women actually live in their home. We understand women so innately that we have actually anticipated what she wants even before she asks.
We know she imagines how she would entertain in the home. She looks for ways the home will be a refuge from her busy lifestyle and help her de-stress. She picks up on the home’s storage--or lack of it. Her natural, nurturing instinct and tendency to anticipate future events also means her home must be flexible enough to accommodate today’s needs as well as tomorrow’s.

Appreciate
Women appreciate the element of surprise, so we incorporate unexpected design aspects into our plans.
Evaluate
Women evaluate home designs based on storage, especially closet and garage storage options plus thoughtful kitchen, laundry and linen storage solutions.
Care
Women care about their ever-changing families, so they look for flexible floor plans to meet both current and future needs like caring for aging parents or starting a home-based business.
Create
Women create areas to de-stress. They look for soaking tubs, walk-in showers, porches, cozy spaces to curl up & read, as well as low maintenance products so that they don’t become slaves to their own home.
Multi-task
Women multi-task, looking for home designs which complement meaningful activities, such as crafts, home office/planning, gourmet cooking, gardening, exercise, home schooling, etc.
Filter
Women filter home plans through the lens of “how does this home live?”
Value
Women value curb appeal. That’s why you see multiple elevation choices and various exterior products.
Embrace
Women embrace others, so they look for spaces in homes suitable for entertaining formally, informally, indoors and outdoors.
Insist
Women insist on ways to help organize their homes: drop zones for mail, keys & recharging cell phones; a large pantry for small appliances.
Crave
Women crave WOW that makes sense. |

WHAT'S HOT
& WHAT'S NOT
When I was in growing
up in the 60’s, nearly every one of my
friends’ living rooms resembled my own:
beige walls, carpet and drapes. In the 70’s,
my folks updated, installing green shag carpet
and covering the couch in a gold velvet fabric.
And I was particularly proud of the huge, orange
swag lamp I gave my mom for Christmas.
